Proton Expands It's Model Line-up in South Africa
23 January, Durban, South Africa. After a good showing at the Auto Africa Motor Show at the end of 2006, the PROTON Satria Neo officially went on sale in South Africa after a media launch in the coastal city of Durban. The Satria now joins a line-up that includes the Gen•2, Savvy and Arena. Journalists had the opportunity to evaluate the vehicle over 150 km of highway, country and coastal roads that gave a good indication of the sort of real-world conditions that the Satria Neo will endure in South Africa.
Mr. Albert Venter, Managing Director of Pearl Auto, Pty. Ltd, the official Proton dealer and Mr. Ahmad Tifli, GM of PROTON International Sales and Service were on hand to officiate the launch. "The market for a sporty 2 door hatchback like the Neo in South Africa is growing, especially among the younger generation of South Africans. Early response to the vehicle has been very encouraging" said Ahmad Tifli.
"South Africa will continue to be an important market for PROTON. In the past 2 years, dealerships have grown from eight in South Africa to 25 today" said Albert Venter. All dealerships today receive extensive training from PROTON and are full-fledged dealers in sales and after sales to assist customers in any situation or query that may arise.
In addition, further new dealerships are already in the pipeline across South Africa as well as a newly launched toll-free PROTON call centre number for all customer complaints, queries and compliments. This will help ensure customer related calls and queries are handled in the best and shortest time possible.
